FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Wood-Polymer-Composite (WPC) Products
Frequently asked questions
- 01
WPC stands for wood-polymer-composite. Wood (from intruder bush, in our case as the only manufacturer world wide) is used as the wood component of the product (approx. 70%), filled up with polymers. All this is made into the product in a 4 step production process in our factory in Windhoek, Namibia in Africa.
- 02
Acacia Composites are products like wood polymer composite decking, cladding, and battens that are made out of a mixture of wood fibres, additives and polymer.
- 03
The wood fibres are sourced from conservation efforts to remove intruder Acacia bush threatening the natural environment of Namibia. Premium additives are sourced internationally, mainly from Germany.
- 04
We buy our wood chips primarily from farmers around Windhoek to keep transport distances and our ecological footprint small. Some of these farmers are certified, some are not. But we think regional proximity is more important than a certificate when it comes to de-bushing. We know where our wood comes from. Still, all is prepared for certification of our processes. If in need for a special market, certification can be achieved rather quickly.
- 05
Acacia Composites are subjected to rigorous testing and must comply with strict, certified, German quality standards.
- 06

Overall, WPC is a more durable, low-maintenance, and sustainable material than wood. It can also save you money in the long run.
- 07
Acacia Composites chose to produce our products in Namibia, Africa. It might have been more cost-effective to make our decking and cladding in countries where the welfare of the worker is compromised but we believe in people and want to uplift communities instead of exploiting them.
- 08
Sustainable and environmentally friendly production is our highest priority. Acacia Composites uses wooden fibres that are a byproduct of bush encroachment thereby protecting resources during production.
Acacia Composites actively encourages “green” production. We are proud to offer you an environmentally sustainable, quality product.
As part of our manufacturing process, we are also able to recycle our products, reintroduce them into our manufacturing process, and recycle them in an environmentally friendly manner.
